How we handle your data at SnoutWalker.

SnoutWalker is operated by Bridgeshop Software Development Inc. ("we", "us", "our"), a British Columbia corporation with its registered office at 200 – 1375 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6H 0B1. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information when you use snoutwalker.com, the SnoutWalker directory, booking tools, or any related services (collectively, the "Services").

We act as a technology platform. We do not provide pet-care services, employ walkers, or act as a party to any walker-client contract.

1. Information We Collect

  • From Walker Subscribers: Name, business name, email, phone, address, payment details (processed by Stripe/Square — we do not store card data), GPS location during active walks (only while tracking is enabled), client/pet profiles you enter, walk reports/photos, and subscription usage data.
  • From Pet Owners: Name, email, phone, pet name/breed, booking details, and explicit consent for SMS/GPS tracking.
  • Automatically: IP address, device info, browser data, pages viewed, cookies/session data (for functionality and analytics).

2. How We Use Information

To provide the Services: manage subscriptions, enable scheduling/bookings, send SMS/email confirmations/reminders (Twilio/SendGrid), process payments via your chosen processor, generate walk reports, display public profiles in the directory, and improve the platform (aggregated/anonymized analytics). We do not sell personal information.

3. Sharing and Disclosure

We share only as necessary:

  • With Stripe/Square (payments — direct from user to processor), Twilio (SMS), SendGrid (email), Google Maps (GPS/mapping), AWS (hosting — us-west-2, Oregon).
  • With the specific walker or pet owner involved in a booking (e.g., GPS link shared only with the pet owner during a booked walk).

We do not share with third parties for marketing. Subprocessors are listed at snoutwalker.com/subprocessors.

4. Cross-Border Transfers

Data is stored on AWS in Oregon, USA. We use contractual safeguards and remain accountable under PIPEDA and BC PIPA.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for functionality and analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel). You can manage preferences via your browser.

6. Data Retention

  • Active accounts: retained while needed.
  • Walk reports/GPS data: 90 days after walk (or as required for billing/disputes).
  • Subscription records: 7 years for tax/accounting.
  • Deletion requests are honoured subject to legal requirements.

7. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA you may access, correct, or delete your information (subject to exceptions). Contact us to exercise rights. SMS opt-out: reply STOP or use account settings (CASL-compliant).

8. Security and Breach Notification

We use reasonable safeguards (encryption, access controls). In the event of a breach involving personal information, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be notified via email or prominent notice.
